How does it work?
Loose lay flooring stays in place without adhesive by utilizing three components; the weight of the thick/heavy planks, the friction between the flooring and the subfloor from the plank's backing, and the tight tension from all of the planks butting up to each other from wall-to-wall. Although never necessary, gluing the planks around the perimeter of the room will add even more stability if desired. The flooring is designed with a non-slip bottom surface that helps to keep it in place and prevent it from sliding around. Additionally, the edges of the loose lay flooring are often designed with a lip or bevel that helps to keep the flooring in place and prevent it from curling up at the edges. The combination of the non-slip bottom surface and the lip or bevel at the edges helps to keep the flooring securely in place without the need for adhesives.
